Los Angeles & Orange County

I've got definitely not enough spare time to report my experience and trips here on my blog.. But right at the moment, I can't stand your complaining emails any longer and therefore i'm finally going to tell you something about my last exciting weekend which I spent in "The City of Angels"! :) I was very looking forward to it since the major part of Swiss is not so convinced and impressed of this city. In contrast, I definitely like Los Angeles, and I'm already keen on visiting it again. I hope I could visit Peter who is coming to his "second home" in a couple of weeks (right Peter?). So to avoid confusing you it's probably the best to start at the beginning! :) We, five Swiss, Fabienne, his brother Manuel, Sarah and her boyfriend Gianmarco, went on our way on Friday midday, the first exiting thing already started when we rented a car, not "a car", our 300hp car was a Dodge Charger! :)) what a great car.. i mean, you can't drive with a common one into the big city of glamour and lifestyle, can you??!! Our first stop was in Laguna Beach. There's a good reason why MTV chose this beach town as the setting for its quasireality-based teen melodrama of the same name. It's the most beautiful beach i've seen so far. And it's not without any reason that it is known as the prettiest stretch of coast south of L.A. After taking some awesome pictures and a delicous seafood lunch, our drive continued, we saw a lot of amazing beaches, just to name New Port Beach (maybe the name rings a bell, indeed, it's the place where O.C. California took place), Huntington Beach also known as "Surf City, USA"... Around evening, we then arrived at our Motel in Santa Monica. This beach town is the most equipped for tourists and there's a big fun park at the pier. As well, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was there too! :)) After a big shopping tour before middnight, we went sleeping, very exhausted, but utterly satisfied! :) Next morning, we went to Hollywood, Westhollywood, saw the more or less disappointing walk of fame, the thousands of stars, most of them unknown personalities, saw the rodeo drive, drove through the base of the richest and famousest celebrities.. But unfortunately, we didn't catch sight of any somewhat famous person.. or do not have recognized them without their make-up! ;) After rich and richer, we went to Venice beach, was indeed quite a cultural shock. There, you'll find a different society, a cauldron of creativity, few celebrities, but a lot of flower power and strange figures.. so not surprisingly, our trip continued very soon.. We preferred to drive along the amazing west coast further north to Malibu Beach. There we had a delicious Mexican dinner and went back to Santa Monica to enjoy the sunset, indeed, it wasn't that romantic at all as you might think. Unfortunately, we weren't the only people who had that idea.. so the beach was very crowded, anyway, we just imagined we were standing there on our own! ;) After going out and enjoying some drinks in a bar, the next day, we drove home, quite sad that the time flew by sooo fast.. but lucky to have been there! :) So my conclusion, I highly recommend to visit L.A., especially Laguna Beach... so that's it so far... This weekend I'm staying here in San Diego, have got a lot to do for university but looking forward to the Redbull Airrace which takes place here in San Diego! :)) (check it out.. www.redbullairrace.com).
